Logitech just unveiled its new G522 Lightspeed gaming headset, and if you have used its G733 over the years, then this is the perfect upgrade. They kept all the good and improved on all the details. The G522 builds on what made the G733 such a fantastic gaming headset, like being lightweight, having amazing battery life, and providing solid audio while improving that audio and making it even more comfortable. Here is what you need to know.

Specs and design

The first thing you notice about the design is just how refined and tight it all feels. It’s extremely lightweight but still feels premium in the hand. It has smooth curves, upgraded materials, incredibly soft ear cup cushions, and some subtle “gamer” touches. It comes in two colors: black or white. I went with the white color, love the look of it. The RGB lighting was also moved from the front portion of the ear cup to the side to get rid of any glare or reflection distraction.

Specs include:

  • PRO-G drivers with 48kHz/24-bit DSP for more detailed, immersive sound
  • 48kHz/16-bit mic with BLUE VO!CE support for broadcast-level voice clarity
  • Tri-mode connectivity: LIGHTSPEED wireless (USB-A dongle), Bluetooth, and USB-C
  • Improved comfort: Wider ear cups, added memory foam, and a flatter suspension band with ridges for breathability
  • Sustainable build: 27% post-consumer recycled plastic + low-carbon aluminum

It seems like Logitech really wanted to focus on voice clarity and sound quality to bring the best experience possible.

My experience

I was lucky enough to get an early release model, so I have been using it for the past two weeks. I’ve used it in multiple scenarios, not just for gaming. I wanted to see if this was good enough to be your end-all be-all for all things microphone and audio related.

To start, comfort-wise, it’s one of the most wearable headsets I’ve tested. The ear cups feel deeper and more plush, and the suspension band distributes weight evenly. There are no pressure points after a few hours, even with glasses on. The fabric is softer and more breathable, which matters if you’re gaming in a warmer space. While there is no active noise canceling, the passive noise cancelling is more than enough even in a relatively noisy environment.

Audio & mic quality

The audio quality was very impressive. I mostly my Sonos Ace headphones, which are 3 times the price, and the sound quality from the G522 was on par with the Sonos Ace. I tested it while gaming, but also for other tasks like Zoom calls, ambient noise listening, and audio FaceTimes. Sounds were clean and clear and even at high volumes would not distort, which is key for these headsets. The mic quality is strong out of the box, and the G HUB software gives you plenty of tools to fine-tune your voice.

My only complaint is that the receiver is still USB-A. In 2025, with so many of us living on USB-C-only machines, especially if you’re using a Mac or newer gaming laptops, that feels like a step behind. Yes, there’s USB-C charging, and yes, it works fine, but I was really hoping this generation would make the switch across the board. Maybe for the next one, but not a deal breaker.

Pricing & availability

The Logitech G522 is available now in black or white for $159.99 directly from Logitech’s site. Retailers should also receive the product soon. At this price point, I believe it punches well above its class. So if you are looking for an upgrade to your gaming or even video chat setup, this is a great option.
